We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals when they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the foe, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they'd all flown in the last war

I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
For I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?

There's nothing in the street
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are out-phased, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now parting on the right
And their beards have all grown longer overnight

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray:

WE DON'T GET FOOLED AGAIN

first of all,I happen to be a big fan of lemony snicket's movie esp jim carrey's brilliant portrayal of the character.'what a surpris...'turns out to be the cutest most overused phrase in the movie and you referred the movie as a 'bomb'?I bet the movie across the universe tried so hard to repeat the successful strings of ala dreamgirl-moulin rouge phenomenon of musical movies, injecting Beatles laden songs to attract Beatles fans in pretence of a love story.and what about your corn boy story?tsk,I can smell a corny story thru my electronical-olfactory fingertips here gazillions miles away in Malaysia.what about sticking true to your real childhood?why don't you reminisce bout your colourful life as a child or teen involved in a two-wheeled mishap, the dislocated arm,the flying tooth wheezing thru the air as you grab on to dear life?and that is one reality show that I wouldn't wanna miss.

thanks for your comments.. but i do like to clarify a few things.

first of all, i love snicket's work n i am, like your good self, a big fan. however, when i say 'bomb', i meant jubilation, colorful explosion of...goodness and awesomeness.

2nd... helllleeooooww!!! 'the corn boy' story is not for adult, its a children story. it's gonna be written in large fonts, and have colourful funny characters, and.. stuff. besides, aren't you bored with all reality shows? there's already loads on tv, and you want to READ 'reality stories'??? wwwhy??

oscar wilde once said 'give a man a mask, n he will tell the truth'. if i have to say something in my defense, I say, 'the corn boy' is my 'mask', n in a way, it is a story of me... only i tell it differently. it may be a bit traditional, but that's my honest expression. pardon me if i'm not caught up with the reality show cliche. its too commercial for poor old-fashion me
